Program Evaluation spkr

Clues for Improvement

For the nearly twenty years I taught classes, facilitated workshops, delivered seminars and speeches, I sought evaluation. While most of the programs were formal and required students to complete and extensive evaluation form at the conclusion, they were multipage assessments asking for too much which had nothing to do with the quality of the program and what could be done to improve it.

When I became a full time professional seminar leader I evaluated every program at the end by noting three issues and developed a quarter page evaluation requesting feedback from attendees the same using sentence stems:

The best part of the program was...

I would like to know more about...

It would help if you added something about...

To those who say, "...but you don't ask for criticism..." my reply is, "I don't need it.  I'm my toughest critic. What I seek are participant views. If I know what they like; extend what they want more of; add what they ask, the good parts will improve and the poorer parts of programs disappear because these programs have time limits.

Although retired since 2001 the process continues whenever I conduct a program on speaking or success. My reqard to the attendees is a copy of my best book, The Last Word in Self-Help, now in its seventeenth edition. You may have a copy, two actually, free, if you can print two sides on an 8 1/2" X 11" page. You will find it here.
