The
successful speakers I know, especially the professionals I knew during
fifteen years in NSA, have their specific processes for development
and delivery. Here are my ideas to consider.
Becoming a successful speaker is a process like others with distinctions not readily identified. Successful speakers have unique personal connection with audiences. Consider this:
"Speaking is a performing art. Without an audience a speaker doesn't exist." Bill Gove, first president of NSA, Cavett Award and Golden Gavel recipient
Becoming a Successful Speaker As one with an engineering mindset who has been a successful speaker in sales, management and the professional during a forty-five year career, I know what it takes for me, not necessarily for others. The acid test is not in what we say, but in how our audiences experience our speaking.
The Success Process With success as "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose" my approach is: pay attention, focus on the important, assess a situation, consider options, then choose, continuing to pay attention.
My Speaking Premise I
love to speak, to have my say
express myself so others may
consider what it means to them as
they live life out on their limb. |
