Talking is a human connector. Chit-chat binds us to one another.

 

Importance and Effect

We are consumate talkers. People watch. Talk, talk, talk... It's how we reinforce our humanness. In a program, talking keeps the audience involved, connected, alert to the passing idea parade. Consider these:

  

"On November 19th, 1986, my boss called me to a one thirty meeting and said, 'I don't know how to tell you this, but you're being laid off.'"

  

"It seems every time I left the house, Mom said, 'Be good and have fun."

  

"Did you tell your first love how you felt? Remember what happened?"

  

Talking seems as natural as breathing, but better speakers develop their talking style into an easy going, flow audiences enjoy. Talking, well said, casually paced, encourages audiences to recall personal experiences and their significance without being commanded, which leads to...
