Thank you, Mom and Dad. We laughed when Leo Buscallia spoke about lives begin in a moment of ecstasy, then laughed louder as he admonished doubters in the audience, "What do you think you are? Born of a virgin?" Yes, most are launched in joy, oft times followed weeks later with, "You're what?"
The process of conception is more involved than one sperm penetrating one egg. Imagine the several hundred million launched on an impossible journey where only a few dozen will reach the destination with one succeeding. (Lottery odds are better.)
We know the winning sperm carries a strand of male DNA and the egg has a strand of female DNA, both of which divide and recombine forming a new DNA, half of each with a few mutations. (Without mutations, siblings would be alike...)
We begin our human journey as a single cell endowed with a unique DNA insearch of an identity and life unlike all others. Terrific!
NOTE: A search for "human conception YouTube" yields magnificent video links.
