"Our lives unfold in stages of thirteen years or so." Eric Hoffer (allegedly)
Premise
That we live life in stages is a common theme. Their nature and duration are uncertain. What is offered here is one view supported by convenient recollections.
As an engineer I am terminally analytical, always assessing assertions for validity. When I learned Eric Hoffer believed our lives unfold in stages of thirteen years, I was doubtful. Imagine my surprise to discover my life had been thus.
Therefore, I have labeled the stages of living and characterized the segues, transitions, which move us from one stage to the next... or so it seems.
Stage of Living: A period of personal development with a particular emphasis.
Segue of Living: A transition between stages, often including a pivotal event. |
